Days 16 & 17 - Your views on mainstream music. & Your highs and lows of the past year.

Day 16:

The vast majority of bands I listen to are mainstream, just look look at my music tag. I wouldn’t listen to it if I didn’t think it was good.

Day 13 - Somewhere you’d like to visit or move.

Well I like the East Coast, so any of the major cities within the Northeast megalopolis would be fine to live in. Somewhere like Providence, Boston, Bridgeport, Newark, New York (where I currently live), Philadelphia, Baltimore, or Washington, D.C.

Day 08 - A moment you felt the most satisfied with your life.

I really want to avoid this question and just say “I’ve never actually been satisfied with my life,” which on every level imaginable is very true.

Day 07 - Your zodiac sign and if you think it fits your personality.

Leo male description I think i’ll just go line by line on this. Here goes…

The Leo man is very proud, and sometimes seems unapproachable. He is an aristocrat to the marrow, in need of high society, listeners and admirers of his splendor. He may be outwardly very gentle, but those around should not be deceived by this softness because when the opportunity comes, he would show his true lion nature. The Leo man has good manners, he knows how to care for women and to be very courteous. Leo will throw a treasure of gifts and all his wide soul to his woman. His rare lady can resist his charm and brilliant splendor and very hot energetic passion.

Leo man already from a very young age strives to make a career, get a good education, or at least plan out his work so to have a career in the future and a pass in the higher strata of society. This representative of the zodiacal circle cannot be contented with little, his ambitions often outstrip its capabilities, but the Leo man will not be an idle talker, as he seeks to actualize them. If the Leo man will be arrogant, but his excessive demands in life will not be supported by an adequate effort - he, in the end, will be very disappointed in life, and such a grumbler will blame others except himself. The Leo man loves a company, where he could shine. Moreover, he is always a leader and the soul of a company. For a representative of this zodiacal constellation, audience is important as the air he breathes for without listeners and admirers, the Leo man simply cannot live. He may graciously ignore the gossips and comments against him since he is generous and should forgive the weaker ones. But those around have to remember that nothing escapes his attention and falls out of his memory. If an occasion comes for him to avenge these “pricks”, the Leo man will do it with satisfaction and great pleasure without thinking. The Leo man’s character is sometimes difficult, and it is sometimes not easy to negotiate with him since he has his own opinion in everything. Leo man does not tolerate opposition and will fiercely fight for his point of view, even if he knows he is wrong. He can be blunt and even tactless, but for his charming smile, people forgive him everything, even deliberately uttered rudeness. Apology from this representative of the zodiacal circle should not be expected. He genuinely believes that, in the first place, “to apologize” - is tantamount to “showing one’s weakness”, and secondly, the Leo man always believes that he is right, and this can never be doubted.

Any woman who will link her destiny with the Leo man must realize that he will never be humble and submissive, and this means that the Leo man should be loved, cared for, cherished, appeased, listened to, and for a good and peaceful relationship - it is very necessary to always compromise, refusing part of your desires. The Leo man is a possessor, he will not tolerate competition, and even an innocent flirtation, designed to inflame his passions, will be an occasion for war. And as is known, Leo takes no prisoners. It seems that this partner is self-sufficient and needs no additional support or incentives, but this is not so. Leo man really needs his muse, a woman, for which he will be able to perform great deeds and achievements, and who will be able to encourage and reassure him when he will have no strength, and create a cozy space for him. He needs a balance that will put his enthusiasm in order and stability which he would want to come back to again and again. And, of course, the Leo man needs a woman that he would be proud of, she must be a queen, for all her quiet and calm qualities of character.

Day 06 - Write 30 interesting facts about yourself.

(I’ll do 10 for now, and maybe add more later.)

1. I’m an anarchist and a communist (obviously.)

2. My favorite bands are Breaking Benjamin and Taproot.

3. Mi instruas mem Esperanton. (I’m teaching myself Esperanto—well at least I was. I’ve been slacking.)

4. My zodiac sign is Leo.

5. I’ve never been in a relationship.

6. I got expelled from the Catholic elementary school I went to when I was little.

7. I listen to Christian Rock, even though i’m an atheist.

8. I’ve read parts of at least 20 different books in the past year, but i’ve finished none of them.

9. I want to become a pharmacist or work in drug discovery and development.

10. I could possibly have an undiagnosed mood disorder, but i’m afraid to get it checked out.

Day 05 - A time you thought about ending your own life.

Feburary 15, 2011. The first, and thus far only time i’ve ever actually attempted to do it. Won’t go into details unless someone asks.

Day 04 - Your views on religion.

I do not currently follow any religion, because I have yet to find one that I could be content with following. As an atheist, I reject any theistic interpretations of the world, which leaves out the Abrahamic Religions and any other ones that require belief in a deity for membership. Therefore, when people ask, I identify as a Secular Humanist; it is important to note—and many atheists stress this fact—that atheism says nothing about what a person believes, while Secular Humanism does. One other thing i’d like to point out is that I am not an anti-theist; while I do believe that the world and the people who in habit it would be better off without religion, I do not feel that it is my place to try and lead people away from their beliefs unless they restrict the freedom of another human being.

While I find most religions to be against everything I stand for (naturalism, non-hierarchical equality, etc.), there is perhaps one religion I could see myself following, which is Unitarian Universalism. From what i’ve gathered about UU, it’s different in that no one is required to follow any dogma or specific creed, and because of this it is a very liberal religion in which people are encouraged to develop their own beliefs about god and humanity as long as they aren’t harmful to others. I heard about it while watching so-called “New Atheist” YouTube videos that lead me to a video of a sermon by Rev. Marlin Lavanhar of All Souls Unitarian in Tulsa, OK. Rather than continue rambling, i’ll just leave this with some resources about Secular Humanism and UUism.

Day 03 - Your views on drugs and alcohol

I drink and do drugs, but I don’t advocate or encourage anyone else to do so. Painkillers, cough medicine, allergy medications, vodka—i’ve done my fair share of drugs. Mostly I do them not because I necessarily enjoy them, but to control my moods when they swing up or down. Coping with loneliness is a large part of it, too…

Consumption of drugs isn’t something that should be banned or made illegal by governments. Rather, they should manage the situation by taxing drugs and using the money to fund counseling and rehabilitation programs.

Day 02 - Where you’d like to be in 10 years.

In 10 years i’ll be 30, and at the very least i’ll have hopefully graduated from pharmacy school. I don’t really try and imagine where i’ll be at any point in the future, because I know nothing ever turns out in my life the way i’d like it to. At least i’m not one of those people who says they want to be “happy.” Happiness isn’t something I don’t think I can ever really attain, because in the 20 years i’ve been around so far that’s one thing i’ve never been.
